How to know if your email was read in Gmail

Use this quick setup to get reliable read status without leaving Gmail.

1. Install the add-on

Install GetMailReceipt from Google Workspace Marketplace.

2. Compose your email

Write your normal Gmail message.

3. Click Add receipt tracker for this mail

This injects secure tracking metadata for open detection.

4. Send and monitor opens

Open “Recent Mail Tracking” in the add-on menu to view open events and time.
